Stairs to success since we prefer you not to take the lift.

Hello, my name is Mariah Gamble. I am an incoming senior from the Philadelphia area. Ever since highschool I have had an interest in the business world whether it be marketing or accounting. I have also had an interest in exploring the world and immersing myself in the different cultures the world has to offer. At Pitt I am currently pursuing a degree in Accounting with a minor in Economics and certifications in Business Analytics and International Business. After my senior year I will be taking the first part of the CPA exam while seeking my master degree. My plans for my professional career is to work with a firm that provides accounting services to people all around the world.

In order to expand my knowledge of the business world and to fulfill my requirements for my International Business certificate I am studying in London on a six week program. While I’m in London I am taking three classes; Business Consulting, International Finance, and Analyzing and Exploring London. I chose London to study because of its vast culture, by studying in a city that’s mult-cultural I can observe the different business techniques that make them successful.

While in London I am taking two business related courses: finance and consulting class. In my international finance I hope to understand the interworking of the financial system. By expanding my knowledge on the connections between each country’s financial status and conversions I will be able to provide my clients with accurate information and better insight to help them with a successful business.

For my consulting class, I hope to understand the professionalism that goes with working with companies outside of the United states. By working directly with a UK company called Kind Community to help the CEO grow their new client Kind2 by growing their presences on TikTok and increasing their revenue ten fold.

During my time aboard, I want to become an expert in the world of international business, although I have taken classes at Pitt that have helped me understand the variety of business practices. By immersing myself in the work life of London I can first hand observe and experience the many cultures that make up England’s business world and contrast it to the United States.

I also hope to expand my network while in London. Not only by directly working with Kind Community allows me to connect with their team. I will also be able to connect with the other students from around the United States and learn from them. I could even meet some of my closest friends here, which I can sense happening already.

I am excited to continue my time in London and explore the world.
