Hi! My name is Emily Dvorchak. I am a rising senior majoring in marketing. I also have a minor in economics and a certificate in communications. I’m from a town outside of Philadelphia called Lansdale, but I grew up with family in Pittsburgh so I love being at Pitt. At Pitt I am involved in Greek life through my sorority Kappa Kappa Gamma. I also co-founded the Gluten-Free Union, a club designed to assist those with Celiac Disease and eating a gluten free diet. I have Celiac Disease, so it is important for me to be involved in helping others with this disease too. This summer when I return from my study abroad I will be interning for Beyond Celiac, a leading research nonprofit for Celiac Disease. I have also had an internship the last year for ODP Business Solutions as an Associate Sales Intern. I eventually want to get my MBA when I graduate and go into sales. My dream job is being a professor, so I am hoping to get my Doctorate in business and teach business at a University or College. I am so excited to further my academic and professional career during my study abroad experience.
This summer I will be spending four weeks in Barcelona, Spain. My program is called Business + Culture, and I will be taking international marketing. I chose this program because I love my marketing classes, but wanted to push myself to learn more. I love traveling but have not have a lot of opportunities to do this, so I have always been interested in studying abroad. This program was perfect because I am able to take International marketing while traveling. The program has been great so far as it combines my passion for business with my passion for exploring the world. Both inside and outside the classroom I hope to learn a lot about Barcelona. I will be participating in field trips, day trips, and guest speakers during this class. Additionally, I hope to be able to gain knowledge about marketing to other cultures. I will be traveling to Portugal, Italy, and hopefully other places too during my time abroad. By immersing myself in these cultures, I can put the skills I learn in my class to work in the real world. I am thrilled to immerse myself in Barcelona for these four weeks and I look forward to what is to come.
