Living and working in a new country has really pushed me to develop some key personal skills. For example, I’ve become much better at working on my own. Unlike back home where I might have had more guidance, here I’ve often had to figure things out for myself. I’ve gotten good at solving problems and taking charge of my tasks without constant supervision. It’s a skill that helps me in any situation and it’s making me more confident and self-reliant which will be a benefit for me in future jobs.
Next, my time management has really improved. Startup life is busy and fast-paced. Things can change quickly, and deadlines are often tight. I’ve learned how to prioritize what’s most important, manage my time wisely, and adjust my schedule when needed. Personally, I don’t enjoy a set schedule for work It gets boring and repetitive. In the past, I’ve struggled to use my time efficiently when I don’t have a set schedule. In my internship so far, I’ve been able to choose when to do certain tasks which has given me more motivation and made it easier on my end. I’m slowly learning to manage my time while choosing what to work on.
Lastly, I’ve seen a big boost in my creativity. Our company teaches financial literacy through an app and social media. I’m constantly thinking of new and interesting ways to explain complex money topics. How do you make saving money exciting for an Instagram Reel? I’ve had to come up with fresh ideas and stories that grab people’s attention and help them understand. I have experience in this for my personal social media accounts but it took an adjustment for a financial focused company. It’s about finding smart, imaginative ways to communicate.
My internship has also taught me some really practical tech skills that are super relevant today. One cool thing I’ve learned is how to automate analytics using AI. Instead of spending hours sifting through data ourselves, I’ve learned how to use special AI tools to find trends, predict what users might do, and give us helpful insights. It took a while but understanding how these AI programs work is key to make our work much faster and smarter.
I’ve also improved at making social media content, especially Instagram Reels, with AI, but adding enough human touch to make them worth watching. I’ve learned how to use VeedAI tools for video editing and even writing scripts. This makes creating content much quicker. But AI alone isn’t perfect yet, so I’ve done a few voiceovers for the company. This has also allowed me to be more creative with the content I make.
Moving to Prague and working at a Nekrachni has been an incredible learning experience. I’ve been amazed at how much I’ve grown, picking up important “people skills” and useful tech abilities, all while getting better at understanding different cultures.
Being in Prague has taught me how to work and live across different cultures. Simply living here has made me more adaptable. Even though many people speak English, there are still differences in daily life and customs. I’ve learned to be flexible, open to new ways of doing things, and comfortable when things aren’t exactly what I expected.
Working with a Czech team has also refined my cross-cultural communication. People communicate differently in various cultures. Being direct might be seen differently here, and I’ve learned how to give or receive feedback in a way that respects local customs. It’s all about listening closely and trying to understand different viewpoints to build good relationships. My time here has really broadened my global perspective. I’m not just thinking about finance from an American point of view anymore. I’m seeing how people in a different country approach money challenges and solutions. This has deepened my understanding of how important financial stability is everywhere and the various ways people achieve it. It’s also shown me that how you teach something needs to be adjusted for different cultures. Even though my role is with the English version of the app, I’ve watched how the company targets a Czech audience.
My experience in Prague has been a complete package of learning. I’ve become more independent, organized, and creative, all while picking up valuable tech skills like using AI for data and social media. Most importantly, I’ve become much better at understanding and working with people from different backgrounds, which is a skill that will help me in any part of my life.
