Hello! My name is Angelina Mora, but I like to go by Angie. I am 19 years old and currently starting my third year at the University of Pittsburgh! I am from Westfield, New Jersey which is about 40 mins Southwest of New York City. At the University of Pittsburgh I am a Professional Communications and Media Studies major and I am also completing a minor in Music. Post undergrad, I want to work in Sports Broadcasting. I have a love and passion for analyzing stats, players, and teams in the NFL, NHL, MlB, and NBA. My dad is from South Jersey which is why I am a huge Philadelphia Sports fan. Being a part of the Philadelphia fandom and culture fueled my interest growing up to pursue a Sports career path. The idea of involving more women in a male dominated field also piqued my interest. At the University of Pittsburgh I am an active member of the Broadcasting Club where for this upcoming academic school year I was elected to serve as the On-Air Talent Chair on the Executive Board. My role includes running on-air training sessions for the club, and reaching out to find opportunities for members to gain on-air experience. This also includes connecting with professionals in the field to come in as guest speakers and share their experience with fellow club members. I am also a part of the WPTS Radio Station at the University where I serve as a sports staffer for the Sports department. Through this student-run radio program, I get the opportunity to go live on air weekly and have a sports talk show with fellow sports staffers. On these weekly shows, we talk about the latest sports news for professional teams as well as our own University of Pittsburgh teams. We debate any “hot takes” that we might defend or rip apart as a group and overall exercise our analytical and listening skills.  As an organization we also get the opportunity to call the University of Pittsburgh’s Football, Men’s Basketball, and Women’s Volleyball games on air for local listeners. Through these two experiences I have made so many meaningful connections and expanded my experience in a field I am passionate about. In my free time I like to call myself a musician. I play guitar, piano, and I am a singer/songwriter. Music has always been an outlet for me for as long as I can remember. I even have an amateur Spotify page where I’ve released a couple cover songs and originals. Along with music, I am an active member of Kappa Kappa Gamma at the University of Pittsburgh. Through this greek life organization I fulfill my passions for service and community through my sisterhood. In my time abroad I hope to achieve success in a variety of areas in my professional and social life. Professionally I hope to gain hands-on experience in the broadcasting field and continue to learn how to communicate with other individuals in my field. I have always believed that communication and collaboration are some of the most valuable skills that any one person can have in any field that they chose to pursue. I want to expand on my journalism and production skills in relation to broadcasting, because I would consider the production of some of my less experienced areas of expertise. I hope that my editing, communication, and writing skills are helpful and beneficial to my experience in Ireland. Socially and culturally I am very excited to grow as a person. With a strong passion for travel, adapting to a new culture is one of the things I am most ambitious to experience. The best part of traveling in my opinion is seeing all of the history each country has to offer. I am very excited to see all the castles in Ireland and try all the food native to the country (even though I am very picky with foreign cuisines). I think this experience is going to put me out of my comfort zone in multiple ways personally and professionally, but ultimately this abroad experience will be one of the most rewarding things I will ever do in my life. I get the opportunity to combine leisure passions with my professional passions. Throughout this entire experience I hope to make memories and gain skills that will last my entire lifetime. Ireland has so much to offer and I truly believe that I have a lot to bring to it as well. I hope I can find some four-leaf clovers and get a little of the Irish luck while I am visiting!
