Hallo! During my first week in Berlin, I had the opportunity to explore the city and prepare for the start of my international internship with w3.hub, a Web3 innovation hub focused on supporting the growth of blockchain technology and decentralized digital communities. Although my internship officially begins tomorrow, this first week allowed me to adjust to life in Berlin, learn more about the culture, and become familiar with the environment where I will be living and working over the next several weeks.
Throughout the week, our program organized tours, activities and even German language lessons that helped us get the lay of the city and better understand Berlin’s history, culture, and transportation system. Exploring different neighborhoods and learning how to navigate the city has already made me feel much more comfortable and confident living abroad. One of the things that stands out most about Berlin is how international and innovative the city feels. There is a strong startup and entrepreneurial culture here, especially within the technology industry, which makes it an exciting place to begin an internship experience.
The industry I will be working in is the Web3 and blockchain industry. At w3.hub, my primary focus will be on marketing, brand strategy, and content creation, specifically supporting the company’s Instagram through posts, stories, and reels. I will also have opportunities to learn more about operational processes within the organization. The Web3 industry is centered around decentralized technologies and digital innovation, and it continues to grow rapidly as more companies explore blockchain applications and online communities.
Several key skills and strengths are necessary to be successful in this industry. Creativity and strong communication skills are especially important because Web3 concepts can sometimes be difficult for broader audiences to understand. Marketing professionals in this space need to create engaging and informative content that helps build communities and strengthen brand identity. Adaptability is another important skill because trends and technologies in the blockchain industry change very quickly. Additionally, collaboration, problem-solving, and initiative are essential when working in startup-style environments where employees are encouraged to contribute ideas and work independently.
One competency that appears especially important in Germany’s professional environment is cultural adaptability and international communication. Berlin is a very diverse and global city, and many companies here work with people from a variety of backgrounds and countries. Being open-minded, collaborative, and able to communicate across cultures seems highly valued in both the workplace and everyday life. I have also noticed that German work culture appears to emphasize organization, efficiency, and independence, which I believe will help me grow professionally during this experience.
Even though I have not officially started my internship yet, this first week has already been valuable in helping me adjust to living abroad and preparing me for the professional experience ahead. I am excited to officially begin working with w3.hub, develop new skills in marketing and content creation, and continue learning more about the Web3 industry and international business culture throughout my time in Berlin.
