The week of July 6th was a fun one! Me and my roommate got to visit the Paradox Museum and got some super cool pictures to share:

The internship company organized a trip to Vaxholm as well – a beautiful little island outside of Stockholm with gorgeous sommarstugar, or Swedish vacation homes!

As for my internship, I have a fellow intern now as well! We get to work together until we both go home at the end of the month.

The question for this week is what soft skills I’ve learned over the course of my internship. The biggest one that I think is important is communication — both in-person and digitally via email and slack. Particularly because I’m generally working remotely, it’s been important to be able to communicate clearly and concisely. I have gotten much more comfortable sending emails and interpreting other people’s when it might not be the most clear.

Another thing that I’ve learned is an important soft skill to have is setting boundaries. There have been some things that I can’t properly do, but have been assigned anyway. I’ve had to get better at communicating the things that I can’t do, and trying to ask for help with areas that I struggle with.

I haven’t really developed any hard skills as I haven’t had to learn any new technology, programs, or techniques. My soft skill development has been much for the focus of this internship.

I will say that I’ve gotten better at interacting with people from other cultures, as I have had to talk to many more people now, both from Sweden and other places. It’s been another area where my communication skills have developed and been useful.

Overall, this internship has been an amazing opportunity to learn and grow new skills.
