Hi everyone! My name is Kyla Stewart, I am rising senior studying Marketing and Chinese. I’m so excited to be a part of Pitt GBI in London this summer. I will be taking a class in International Marketing and doing a marketing internship at a non-profit organization called Believe You Can Make a Difference. I can’t wait to see what the future in London holds!
I am actually writing this from the top of Montserrat, Spain. Two days ago I traveled to Spain with my boyfriend to see some more of Europe before heading to London. My time thus far in Barcelona has been unbelievable, surpassing even my highest expectations. Sagrada Familia and Park Guell were masterpieces almost unfathomable to the naked eye. We just walked around in awe for most of yesterday. Which leads me to my second point, Barcelona is an unusually walkable city. Each day we have walked over fifteen miles and it hasn’t felt painstaking at all. The sidewalks are extremely wide and it is one of the few cities I have been where people actually abide by traffic laws. The whole atmosphere is casual and relaxed. People seem to embrace the day and not worrying too much about tomorrow, unlike our fellow Americans. Each evening has been full of delicious and inexpensive tapas and sangria bars. Yum.
Tomorrow is the big Barcelona vs Madrid Real soccer game and I have to save up some energy for all of the excitement!
