One Week Down Under

It’s been one week since I travelled to the other side of the world to study abroad for six weeks in the beautiful city of Sydney, Australia. Sydney has been everything I thought it would be, and much more. The architecture is beautiful, the food is great, the beaches are gorgeous, and the people are very diverse. Sydney is a great walking city, so in the last few days my roommates and I have been able to check out almost every neighborhood in the city. My favorite has been Darling Harbor, a nice area west of Sydney Harbor with lots of great restaurants overlooking the water. The other night we were able to have dinner outside at Darling and watch the beautiful Sydney light show called Vivid!

Another highlight of the week was our trip to the famous Bondi Beach over the weekend. Just a 45-minute bus ride from our apartment, we were able to bring a little Memorial Day Weekend fun to Sydney. The beach was full of delicious food options, surfers, and lots of rocks that we climbed on for cool photo opportunities. I thought it had to be the most beautiful beach in Sydney, but apparently it’s only ranked 10th, so I look forward to finding the elusive number 1 beach in Sydney over the next 5 weeks.

It took some time, but I have finally adjusted to the 14-hour time difference and the busy streets of Sydney. I no longer feel like a tourist in a big city. It has definitely been an unforgettable week down under, and I cannot wait to make more great memories here. Stay tuned for my next blog about adjusting to my new internship and academic courses!
