Mitchell Wesoly – GBI Sydney Blog 2

I can’t believe that I have already been here for three weeks!  It has gone by so fast. Sydney is a really amazing city, and there’s so much to see, do, and learn. Probably one of my favorite things to do in this city so far, is to learn about aboriginal culture here in Australia. The aboriginals were the first people on this country, yet still fight and uphill battle today to gain respect as their own culture.  It’s really interesting to learn about, and compare with our country’s upbringing.

My internship with Marley Spoon has been really interesting.  I am working directly under the Operations Coordinator and Project Manager.  Marley Spoon is a meal-kit service, similar to Blue Apron. One of the really awesome things with this company right now, is that they are expanding from just being located here in Sydney, and adding a second location in Melbourne.  It’s a really big step for this company that is still in it’s start-up phase. It’s also a really awesome time to be working with the Project Manager and Operations Coordinator.  They need to make sure everything is down there in Melbourne in order begin production on time, and I have assisted with this by creating Gantt charts and project timelines for them to have an overview of what is being supplied and when.  I’ve also had some interest in working with the procurement team, so that’s something that I am going to ask to help with in the near future!

Other than school and my internship, exploring the city consumes my time.  The picture featured here is on our 10km hike from Coogee Beach to Bondi Beach. It was really cool to see the beaches of Australia, and I can’t wait to see a shark!!!! Coming up this weekend, we have a trip to the Blue Mountains, and a stop at a wildlife reserve to hold koalas!

Until next time, g’day!
