Only 26 more days until I am starting my journey to Sydney, Australia!

Hi everyone! My name is Lauren Kelly and I am majoring in Marketing and Supply Chain Management with certificates in Business Analytics and Leadership and Ethics. Before calling Pittsburgh my home for the past three years, I resided in Bethlehem which is on the eastern side of PA. I fell in love with the city of Pittsburgh and all that it has to offer, and I am so excited to have the opportunity to explore outside of city (and outside of the country.)

I am partaking in the Pitt Global Business Institute in Sydney for the spring 2018 semester.  The reason why I chose this program is because Sydney is known as the marketing and supply chain hub, which means Australia is filled with countless opportunities where I can learn about possible future career paths. I also thought that Sydney was a perfect location for me because there are very few times in the future where I can spend a full three months in an entirely different country, especially one that is halfway around the world. I also am participating in the internship that is offered through the GBI program which I am very eager to learn more about!

I am most excited to be part of a culture that is not like the one we have here in the U.S. There is always so much to learn from others who have different backgrounds from our own. Sydney is the New York of Australia. It is a melting pot of various cultures living in one area. It’s like traveling to numerous countries without leaving the city! The only thing that I am not excited about is the 24 hour flight to get there!

As of now, I am making the most of my time at home: spending time with family and friends, and enjoying the winter weather (and skiing!) as much as I can before the departure across the world to a summer season in Australia!
