Hello! My name is Zachary Passalacqua and I am going to be a Junior here at the University of Pittsburgh. I am currently majoring in Marketing, Supply Chain Management, and Psychology in the College of Business Administration and Dietrich School of Arts and Sciences. At Pitt, I am a Resident Assistant, Research Assistant, and member of Beta Theta Pi Fraternity. This year I am currently an RA in Tower B and next year I will be part of the Business Living Learning Community at Bruce Hall. After graduation, I hope to pursue a career in Industrial-Organizational Psychology or something marketing-related.
When I’m not doing school work, I enjoy working out, hanging with friends, watching television, and eating. I am currently watching The Office, Survivor, and This is Us. Some of my favorite foods are sweet potato fries, watermelon, and cashew waffles. Fun fact, I am allergic to gluten and dairy! Also, despite the negative reactions I usually elicit upon admitting this, I am a huge fan of country music.
This summer I will be studying abroad in Sydney, Australia and I could not be more excited! The program I am a part of is GBI (Global Business Institute). In the week prior to my program, I will be visiting Cairns; I am thrilled to explore the Great Barrier Reef and the Daintree Rainforest. Lucky for me, two other friends from the trip are tagging along with me. While in Sydney, I will take Operations Management as well as complete an internship. I already had the professor who will be teaching the class and I look forward to having him again. Also, I will be interning at Ardent Communications which is a marketing research firm about 30 minutes from where I will be staying. This will also be my first internship and I am excited to see what this experience teaches me. I look forward to learning more about the marketing industry as well as how business abroad functions.
I am excited to grow professionally, academically, mentally, and culturally from my time in Sydney. I can’t wait to meet the people I will be travelling with and experience this great opportunity with them. Although I sit here with great anticipation, I know the time will fly by. With only six weeks in Sydney, I will make sure to make the most of my travels and share it along the way!
