La Vie Enviée d’un Parisienne

IMG_0083Ah Paris, la ville-lumiere, the city of light and love… also fashion, food, and architecture. What is not to like? Hopefully this summer will give me the opportunity to embrace a city thick with culture and history, but also leave me some time to shop, eat, and enjoy the envied life of a Parisian.

Bonjour! My name is Arthini Pulenthiran, and I am a student at the University of Pittsburgh studying marketing, minoring in French, and pursuing a certificate in international business. I like to be very involved on Pitt’s campus as well. I participate in the American Marketing Association, Alpha Kappa Psi Professional Business Fraternity, Creative 360, as well as the Society of International Business.

My love for the French language and European culture has drawn me to work in Paris during my 2018 summer. Paris seemed like the perfect location to continue my international journey. My primary goal for this internship is to master the French language. Over the last few years, I have fallen in love with French and hope to be able to use it as much as possible in my professional career. I want this opportunity to help me familiarize myself with business and professional language, and further my written and oral communication.

I also want to gain from the working experience. Working in the real world, especially in a foreign country, will give me hands on experience and show me what it is like to work for a French company. I want to learn about the differences between professional cultures, and also acquire intellectual and practical skills that are applicable in multiple regions.

Lastly, I want to expand my cultural knowledge through this program and be a better contributor to global communities. I hope that this program will help me appreciate different angles of global issues and intercultural understanding. I will hopefully become more open-minded and develop a better understanding of cultural differences.

I cannot wait to grow and learn from this experience and am looking forward to sharing my journey. Au revoir for now!
