The six weeks I spent in Sydney were some of the best weeks of my life. I enjoyed every moment of the experience from beginning to end. I met a lot of great people and made some unforgettable friends. I explored all that Sydney had to offer. One of my favorite spots in Sydney was, of course, the opera house. It was unlike any building I had ever seen, and it was so iconic. The area around it was also beautiful, with the bay surrounding it, and the harbor bridge back to its left. One of my favorite things I did was travel to the top of the Sydney tower. Up there I could see the entire city and beyond. It reminded me a lot of being at the top of the empire state building and looking out over New York. Another one of my favorites was swimming at Bondi beach. I had heard of Bondi and seen it many times on TV. It was one of nicest beaches I’ve been to, and it was cool being able to swim at such a famous location, that I had heard and seen so much about. Perhaps my favorite part of the trip was getting to meet people. It was awesome getting to meet people in my program who were from different schools all over the country, as well as the local Australians.
I feel like these people and experience helped me develop as an individual. For starters, I believe this trip helped me to improve my interpersonal skills. Forcing myself into an unfamiliar environment where I knew no one, helped me to enhance my communication skills. This program also threw me into unfamiliar learning environments. My class sizes were much smaller and more involved than what I was used to. It was a great experience and preparation for the future, as my class sizes slowly get smaller and more intense. One takeaway I took from this program was that you shouldn’t be afraid to put yourself out there and meet new people. I feel like this especially applicable in business as relationships and networking are a key part of the industry. Secondly, communicate with your professors. I know I’ve stated this in my previous blogs, but at Pitt, I never really spoke to my professors one on one. Due to this I never really got to develop a real relationship with any of them. Over the course of this program I made an effort to communicate with my professors and it definitely paid off. I will certainty continue this once I return to Pitt. Well this is it, the last blog. Thank for joining me during this exciting time in my life. You’ve helped to give me one of the greatest experiences of my life and I could not be more thankful.
All the Best,
William Feinour
