Ernst & Young is a modern, friendly accounting firm that supports and encourages entrepreneurial growth. The bright minds of Ernst & Young come delivered in a package that resembles a glass palace. Indeed, the Pittsburgh location resides in a beautiful building made of reflective glass (credit due to PPG for that). Today, our class had the honor of visiting the firm and hearing all about the company culture, the employees’ pride, and the respectable work each team completes. The firm believes in sustaining economic growth, and to do so, E&Y promotes and provides aid to the entrepreneurial culture. Entrepreneurs have a vision of the world that they would like to make a reality. Not many people possess such vision, or if they do, not many would take the steps towards creating that new reality. I can empathize with entrepreneurs as they want to see a change in the world and are willing to take risks to make it happen. I appreciate the work Ernst & Young does to help these visionaries manage their complex environments.
Personally, at least in this point of my life, I lack an entrepreneurial mindset. I find it difficult to think innovatively. However, with the continued classwork, company tours, and guest lecturers, I believe I will become inspired to think more futuristically. As I keep learning, my knowledge is expanding and I am gaining insight to ideas I never quite knew before. In that expansion, I discover more and more about the markets, the environments, the buyers and so on. If I can understand how the market works and what the environment is lacking or having issues with, then I can become creative with new products, services, or enhancements that the buyers will want. I believe, that in time, inspiration and innovation will come easier.
