7/24: Pitch Day

Today was the initial pitch for the innovation blitz idea. My pitch unfortunately did not get picked. That does not mean that the idea is bad, it just means that we as a class are going in a different direction. I got put into Charge! which basis is charging your phone via kinetic energy. I am excited to see how our group moves forward with more pitches in the near future.

But before we presented our ideas to our classmates, Blake Dube a Pitt grad in 2017 spoke to us about his idea, as he himself could relate to the nerves that come from the initial pitch. His company is Areoniscics, which function as portable and more efficient oxygen tubes. He gave us his two minute pitch, and I was blown away; not only by the idea, but his confidence. Besides the confidence his graphics and slides were interesting Relating that to my presentation, even though the idea I believe is fantastic, the delivery on my end might have been subpar. I don’t know could tell while I was up there but I did not have a great deal of confidence.  To clarify, I felt confident in the idea and my work, but not in my presentation graphics, especially after seeing Blakes. And my actual presentation, even though it somewhat precise, it could’ve been better. But these are things that I can learn, take and improve on whenever I have to give another pitch.

Today was a useful day, I learned what to improve upon so I can be excellent in public speaking.  Also, I got more outlets for networking if I do decide that I want to become an entrepreneur.  Immediately after Blake spoke, Phil Marzoff a specialists IOT gave our class useful information if we do want to give more pitches. To me experience is a great way of learning and after today I got more experience in presenting and found ways to practice more thanks to Phil Marzoff.
