Life After Study Abroad

After being home for a few weeks, I still find it crazy that I lived on the other side of the world this summer. It’s an odd feeling to get back to work with Pitt football camp where in Australia, football is rugby. At Dunkin’ or Starbucks I have to make sure I say the correct order instead of “long black” or “flat white.” Also, at restaurants I have to make sure I say “to go” instead of for “takeaway.”

This summer in Australia was my first study abroad experience. I had been out of the country a few times but never with a group of peers/friends. It was a very cool environment to have similar, yet extremely different experiences as those around me – which is not the case here at school.

By studying abroad, I have a new-found confidence in myself that I can use for this upcoming school year. I have lived and worked at a top-tier company thousands of miles away, learned the ins and outs of a brand-new city, and learned from challenges I faced along the way. This trip changed my outlook on the future and made me truly realize that anything is possible.

Thank you Pitt Business for an incredible summer I will never forget! I cannot wait for a new semester to start with all of my new friends made abroad.
