Cheerio Pittsburgh

Hello everyone! My name is Emily Beran, I am from the northern suburbs of Pittsburgh and have lived outside the city my entire life. I am from a family of five. Three of us have attended or are currently attending the University of Pittsburgh. At home, my house has two cats and two dogs which makes our house a little crazy.
I am currently a junior at the University of Pittsburgh (Pitt) in the College of Business Administration. I am majoring in Supply Chain Management and Business Information Systems. While at Pitt, I am actively involved in the Supply Chain Management Club and Delta Delta Delta sorority. In the Supply Chain Management Club, I served as the head of social media for the past year. In the sorority, I served as the treasurer for the past year.
When I’m not at school, I enjoy traveling as much as I can and playing with my two dogs. Up until last year my travels were limited to within the United States.
Over the summer, I had the opportunity to attend the first ever Plus3 trip to Dublin, Ireland. After two weeks of traveling around the country and exploring different landmarks, I was extremely upset to go home. This was my first time ever being abroad and I was not sure how I would like it, but I soon realized two weeks was simply not enough time for me. I wanted to see everything possible and travel all throughout Europe. This was the main factor in deciding to attend a semester abroad. Having little experience with a foreign language, I knew London would be a good location for myself. The hometown of the queen has always been a city I have dreamed of visiting. With the opportunity to live there for nearly four months, I could not turn it down.
Throughout the next four months I hope to gain insight into what it is like to live as a local Londoner. I can’t wait to experience the business side of the city and develop new skills that will help me in my future work. Whether I am riding the tube on my morning commute or walking the streets of the Camden Market, I know I will enjoy every second of the semester. When I was in Dublin I gained twenty new friends in two short weeks. With four months together, I cannot wait to make so many new friends and connections along the way.
While abroad, I will be taking three classes while completing an internship with a local company. My schedule will keep me busy all week, yet still allow me to travel on weekends and see new places. This program allows me to complete credits and travel which was exactly what I was looking for when I was looking into the different programs.
Throughout my time, I know I will take more photos than necessary and have so many exciting stories to share along my journey. I can’t wait to share plenty of pictures and experiences that I will have while abroad!
Time for me to stop procrastinating from packing and get ready to leave, see yinz in London!
