When I discovered that I would be studying abroad in Australia this semester, I thought that it would be a good idea to set a number of goals that I would hope to accomplish in my time here so that I can experience growth both professionally and personally. I get the opportunity to be immersed in a completely different place from Pittsburgh and be in a new work culture and general culture altogether.

Professionally, I am embarking on the first internship in my field of study as a student. I am working as a Marketing Inter at Golf Deals Group located in the Central Business District of Sydney. The biggest thing that I want to get from this internship is just to be able to learn as much as I possibly can about the what goes into the business of Sports Marketing. I want to set out to become like a sponge to all the information that I can possibly take in about how this company operates. I want to set out to ask as much as I can from the aspect of trying to learn everything that I can. With being able to learn and gain as much experience as I possibly can, I want to be able to become an asset to my organization by being able to take initiative and be able to do important tasks on my own and in a timely manner.

Personally, I want to use this time away from all of my friends and family to really focus on myself and do a lot reflecting. I think this will be a great opportunity to have some relaxing and refreshing experiences being in Sydney. So much of my time at Pitt is revolved around school and preparing for the next step of my professional career and making sure I am set once I graduate. Now that I am away from all of that hectic energy, I want to be able to take times when I am not in class or at my internship to truly unwind and take in the city. There is so much to explore here in Sydney. From the hundreds of beaches, to the countless number of different cultural neighborhoods, to the multitude of significant sights and landmarks, to the potential trips that surround the area that would be great to go adventure into and take in. Sydney offers so much for me to be able to achieve these goals and have a truly unforgettable experience abroad.
