Haller Fellowship Day 1: Introducing Nicholas Borne

The beginning of my Haller Global Honors Virtual Fellowship begins with me introducing myself. I am Nicholas Borne. I am an incoming CBA and honors student. I currently plan on majoring in business information systems and minoring in creative writing. Personally, I am a history buff, aspiring writer, and a huge fan of tabletop roleplaying games.

I am on Team Two of the Haller Fellowship, which is focused on demographic assessment and creating a volunteer engagement plan in order to help the Southwark Pensioner’s Center increase their volunteer pool with school-aged young people. My specific role within our group is to be the liaison between our group, our clients, and the other two teams.

I chose the Haller Fellowship because I wanted to start my Pitt Business career early and take advantage of Haller’s opportunities. Personally, I hope to make friends with fellow CBA students and connect with them before the fall. Academically, I know that the heavy research required by the Haller project will prepare me for the rigor of my freshman year. Professionally, the fellowship will give me firsthand experience in working with a client in a real-world situation.

Overall, I am excited to learn as much as I can from the Haller Fellowship while helping a real organization solve real problems.
