Small Town Gal with Big World Dreams

Life can be a crazy, yet beautiful, concept. From the early years of my life to the present day of young adulthood, I have been working to find myself in all ways possible. Before I dive into who I am today, though, allow me to explain where I came from.

I grew up an hour south of Pittsburgh, PA in a small town called Brownsville, PA. My hometown has a declining population, with 2,200 residents in 2021. Now that I have relocated to the greater Pittsburgh region, there is one less. My high school had 90+ graduates, most of whom did not attend college. Growing up, I dreamt about attending college and leaving (not entirely) behind my hometown. In order for that dream to come true, I had to work hard in all aspects of school and in my personal life. When it came time to apply for college, I knew I needed to attend one that equipped me with the ability to live anywhere in the world.

I always knew I wanted to do something in the realm of business, but was not quite sure about the specifics. I chose the University of Pittsburgh for its amazing business school and sports teams. Securing a great education was at the top of my list, but being able to have fun outings to a game here and there was near the top of my list. Three years later, I am now a senior here at the University of Pittsburgh. I am graduating a semester early with a major in Human Resources Management and a certificate in Innovation & Entrepreneurship. As previously mentioned, choosing a school with global experiences was a must. I am currently undergoing my second internship here in London. This city is one that I’m pondering on living in post-graduation this fall.

As for who I am personally, that is a great question that I am learning the answer to day by day. I have a passion for exploring the world and embracing different backgrounds. Choosing Human Resources Management as my major was a great decision. It will be of most use to me in whichever industry I end up in. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my wonderful puppy, reading books, and traveling across the world. Now that I am here in London, I can fulfill my passions of engaging with different cultures and traveling. After all, I’m just a small town gal with big world dreams!
