Becoming a Londoner

With my class Exploring and Analyzing the Global City of London, I’ve had the opportunity to explore and see a lot of new and unique areas. Such as Greenwich, Brixton, East End and Brick Lane, and South Bank. With this class every Thursday we spend about 3 1/2 hours exploring the area. Going to different museums, seeing different buildings and statues, and looking at the surrounding people and culture around us.

I’ve also had the opportunity to tour some very important historical locations such as Westminster Abbey and the Tower of London. Although London is way bigger than Pittsburgh, being from New Jersey and spending a lot of time in New York City, London doesn’t seem as big, crazy, or scary as that. This past weekend in London has been very hot. Having to wear a suit 4 out of 5 days for my internship hasn’t been the most enjoyable but I am living. Another hard thing about the heat and London is AC doesn’t usually exist and especially in our flats. But that should not discourage you, because out of 4 weeks, only one has been very hot.

One really cool thing I got to see and be a part of was watching Chelsea vs Newcastle. Although tickets were a little pricey with fees and the currency exchange rate. It was really cool to witness a sold-out game. Soccer as we know it is extremely important to their culture and they prove it. Fans never sit down, and they are always signing chants and are always into the game.
