Studying Abroad to Post-Graduation

Graduation is a little short of six months away, but it will be here sooner than later. I feel as though I have time, but I am constantly searching for the perfect job. I have always wanted a job that allows me to travel, whether it be in, or out of, country. I have always wanted to work for a company that makes an impact, leaving a good mark where they go. To this day, I want the same things in a job. There are a few companies that I have pondered, the most recent being Duolingo. This company is headquartered in the great city of Pittsburgh, PA with international offices which could lead to fulfilling my dream of working and traveling. This experience will only increase my chances of working here.

Studying here in London, England has not only given me the ability to add it to the education section of my resume, but it has allowed me to complete an internship, too. Working in London with native Brazilian supervisors has taught me numerous ways of working. I have gained an incredible working knowledge of what it means to be intercultural. From day one, I was faced with differences in communication, work ethics, and even dressing styles. These are things that I could have read about in a textbook as a business student, but to be able to experience these practices first-hand has been amazing. Living in a foreign city as vibrant as London is a once in a lifetime opportunity, made even more possible by being a student here at the University of Pittsburgh in the College of Business Administration.

Coming out of these six weeks in just a few short days, I find myself searching for more out of life. I have always strived to be a better version of myself, but this self-realization has been different. Professionally and personally, I feel my true potential has not been reached. I have talked to many different professionals regarding their lives and what leaps they may have taken to get where they are. It has made me realize that I, too, can achieve all my hopes and dreams if I set my mind to it. The business student in me will always be thankful because the benefits of studying abroad have drastically outweighed the opportunity costs. I will always cherish my time here in London as it has given me a lifelong list of opportunities!

If you are a business student contemplating studying abroad, this is your sign to do it. Your life will be forever altered!
