Potato Famine

One challenge in Ireland’s history that I am very interested in learning more about is the Irish potato famine. The potato famine is something I have heard a lot about while learning world history. So, I am very interested in going to Ireland and seeing what effects it still has on the people today. Since the famine caused over a million deaths, it will be interesting to see how Ireland would be different today if it hadn’t happened. Additionally, I am also interested to see how the famine worsened Ireland’s relationship with England. Obviously, their relationship has always been rocky, but the famine made it worse. So, I am interested in learning how there are still effects of that today.
