First Day in Dublin

I was immediately surprised by the fashion of the people in Dublin. Everyone was dressed nicely even if they were just going shopping. We were the only ones in shorts and a sweatshirt. This made me feel like I was standing out. Almost all the clothes I packed from home are shorts and t-shirts which are not going to be helpful for looking nice in 60 degrees and rainy weather.

Our driver, Lee, was an incredibly interesting person with a strong accent. It was fun listening to him talk about Ireland and his experience with buying a house. Apparently, there is way more demand for houses than there is supply. Nearly all construction was shut down after an economic crisis in 2008. This created a situation where many families had to outbid each other for houses. People with average paying jobs have to move far away from the city in order to afford rent.

A woman from Trinity college was in charge of giving us a brief orientation and showing us to our rooms. I asked her if she had ever heard of Share Club, and she said no. I asked the same about 2GoCup and she immediately said that everyone in Trinity College loves it. Irish people seem to be on board with sustainable cups, however, they do not know the ShareClub brand.
