Hi! My name is Astrid, I am a junior at Pitt, and I am a Global Management major. I am doing the Global Business Institute program here in London because of the internship that is offered through the program. I thought it would be a great experience, especially with London being such a major hub for all kinds of careers and businesses. Another reason I came was because London is familiar to me because this will be my fourth time coming, which shows how much there is to see and do in this city. I have been here for about a week and I have been loving my time so far! One of my main goals while being here in London is to see if the work I am doing in my internship could be a good fit for me in the future. My internship is at a company called Pepa London, which is a children’s luxury fashion brand, and I am working with the Product team. I went into the office a couple days this week and I have already found the work I’ve been doing interesting. Another goal of mine is just meet other people in my program that have the same interests as me and like to travel. The host institution I am doing my classes through is called CEA CAPA. The classes are all held in one building in Kensington and the classes are extremely small, which is not something I am used to because at Pitt my classes tend to be on the larger side. I am living in a Western suburb of London called North Acton. So far, I do not really like it because it does not feel like I am in the city at all. My room is also very small and is slightly difficult to share with another person. Besides my the area I am living in, everything else in London has been great and I am excited to be living in such a vibrant city. I have been meeting new friends and doing fun activities like trying food in Borough Market and going to Big Ben. I also went to Buckingham Palace, which can be seen in my picture! There was a good tour that we did and learned more on the history about London, which was interesting. I am really looking forward to the rest of my time in London and also trying to squeeze in any other travel to some new countries!
