Dear Me from Three Months Ago,
You truly believe you will adapt to life in London in a short time, and I’m happy to report—you were right! Congratulations are in order, as you’ve certainly made it. I know how worried your family and you were about you heading to London without any friends joining you on this program. But, as always, you have found your way beautifully. Over the past three months, you’ve forged friendships that have truly enriched your experience. Even during the Lunar New Year, you were surrounded by new friends, all celebrating together. So, you see, you are quite adept at making friends.
One of your biggest concerns was about the homestay situation. Indeed, there was a hiccup initially when I had to move after the first month because the host’s mother fell ill, requiring her to leave the city. However, fortune smiled upon us with the second host—a wonderfully kind person who goes out of her way to make me feel welcomed. She prepares salads, bakes cakes and cookies, and truly makes it feel like a home away from home.
I share this to assure you that there was never any need for worry. This journey in London has unfolded beautifully, and surprisingly, I have found immense joy in exploring the city solo. Each week, I dedicate at least one day to visiting renowned sites or attractions, marking nearly 50 spots on my Google Maps as “want to go.” You are braver than you ever imagined! By the second month, I had already visited most of the city’s famous landmarks. Then, in the third month, I shifted focus to schoolwork, diligently completing all my projects and assignments.

As for the internship in London, it has been nothing short of fantastic. The supervisor and colleagues are incredibly supportive and kind. This position has given me a valuable glimpse into the wine and e-commerce sectors, aligning perfectly with my interests. The most exciting thing this month was when the supervisor took me to Lord’s Cricket Ground to watch a game! The scenery was breathtaking, and together with my supervisor, I had the privilege of witnessing a historic moment at Lord’s Cricket Ground. A player shattered all previous records, setting the highest score ever achieved at Lord’s.
Remember, you are capable of more than you know, and this adventure is proving it every single day.
With all my love,
Your Future Self
