A Summary of my Time Across the Pond

The past 100 days in London have been one of the greatest life-long experiences of my life. I traveled to new cities and countries. The second weekend here, I took a trip with CEA CAPA to Stonehenge and Bath. Bath was so pretty and I hope to go back there soon. The next weekend, I traveled to Edinburgh and had my first trip with the friends I had made here. That was one of my favorite trips and was where I fell in love with the idea of traveling everywhere by train. I saw Windsor Castle and the Chelsea Stadium (might be the football team I follow now!) a few weekends after that. I traveled to Vienna that next weekend! I learned how to pack efficiently from that trip onwards. I went to Birmingham to see Niall Horan, my favorite artist, in concert after that. Now, we’re at spring break! I went to Paris for the weekend with my cousins and spent the week-long break with them in London. I went to both Greenwich and Richmond during that break. Two weeks later, I traveled to Copenhagen and visited my cousin who’s studying abroad there. That trip was my second favorite. I went to Seven Sisters Cliffs and hiked for the day the next weekend. The weekend after, my family came to visit me! I jam packed all of the touristy things into 4 days. Some of the things we did were high tea, rode the London Eye, and toured Wimbledon Stadium. Just last weekend, I visited Kensington Palace. And now we’re in the last 2 weeks of the program, where I am just trying to spend the last moments with my friends and in London. While I was trying to make the most of my time in London on the weekends, I was busy during the week with my classes at CAPA or my internship with Winnovart. These daily commutes made me feel like a true Londoner, especially with a book in hand, reading until my stop came up. I have grown much from this experience. I feel more independent after living in a big city away from all of my family. Academically, I feel that I have gained an international perspective and learned more about the world, specifically London. Professionally, I have also gained an international perspective and got to learn about the work culture in the UK. One of the biggest takeaways from this program is to say yes to everything. You will feel uncomfortable being out of your comfort zone, but you will create the best and most memorable experiences from saying yes. I plan to practice this at Pitt and in my future career in order to feel comfortable with the uncomfortable. Whether I attend a networking event at Pitt, or take initiative on a big project at work, this skill will help me to do the best and achieve my goals. Mind the gap and I hope I’ll see you soon, London 🙂
