Mussoorie? Let’s goo!

Hello everyone! My name is Madan and I’m from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. I have a background in business management and am majoring in accounting from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. My passion is the ever-evolving world of finance, and I especially enjoy learning about stock market trends, personal finance, etc. In addition to anticipating my May 2025 graduation, I’m considering studying for the CPA exam to advance in my profession. I currently work part-time as an intern, and the experience has been invaluable to me. It has helped me continue learning and has allowed me to put my academic knowledge to practical use. I have also been able to improve my skills in a professional setting.

I have a variety of personal interests that keep me energized, involved, excited, and balanced in life outside of my professional goals. Whether it’s going to the gym, practicing karate, playing video games, going on walks with the family, going for a run, listening to music, reading a good book, or watching movies and anime, I find happiness and peace of mind in these hobbies. I am driven by the goal to one day look back on my personal and professional achievements and proudly say “I did it!” It’s like that “sigh, I finally did it” feeling that I’m not sure how to put into words.

I’m participating in the Leadership in the Himalayas program. I heard about this program from my friends and it immediately piqued my interest. I wasn’t sure if I would be allowed to go as a student from a different university, but after exchanging a few emails, I learned that I would, and I’m grateful for this opportunity. I chose this program because I wanted to challenge myself and be outside of my comfort zone. Personally, I want to continue developing my leadership skills and find out what kind of leader I am in a challenging environment. It is also my first international trip which I am very excited about. Professionally, I am hoping to enhance my resilience, flexibility, self-awareness, and capacity to handle stress and uncertainty in personal and professional contexts. I aim to improve my leadership abilities, gain insights into team dynamics, and make efficient decisions, which are crucial for my future roles in the field of accounting and finance. Lastly and most importantly I want to have fun, enjoy my time there, and make the best out of the trip.
