Hello!
My name is Jennifer Nealy and I am an incoming senior at the University of Pittsburgh majoring in Finance. I was born in Boston, Massachusetts; but I currently live outside of Philadelphia, PA. I began interning as a Customer Finance Intern at Siemens Healthineers in the winter of my sophomore year, and plan on being with them until I graduate! The Customer Finance Internship at Siemens is a rotational program. In my first rotation, I worked in the Quote to booking team, generating customer quotes for medical equipment (diagnostics and imaging equipment). My next rotation was in the LifeCycle Team. In the LifeCycle team, my main responsibilities include working with the consumer price index to increase contract line item value. I also work with Federal government customers to collect payment for unpaid service invoices.
This summer, I decided to participate in the Florence Global Business Institute summer program. I’ve always wanted to visit Florence, so this program was my top pick right when I saw it. Florence is such a beautiful city. My main goal for this program is to learn how to adapt to new surroundings without my trusted support system. I’ve been incredibly blessed to have such a great family structure that always helps me when needed. Being away from them in a different country will force me to adapt to a new area on my own. After I graduate, I intend on applying for a rotational program at Siemens. In this rotational program, you are physically relocated 3 times, each for 8 months. I hope to gain critical adaptation skills while abroad that will allow me to do so easier. Being in a new country with a completely different culture is super challenging. I also hope to get to know Florence’s culture and cuisine. I’ve never been to Italy, and I look forward to seeing and indulging myself physically into their culture for such a long time. Living in Florence for 6 weeks will allow me to get to know the area as well as the popular spots, landmarks, and cuisine. I also look forward to meeting new people from Italy, as well as new people from the states! CEA CAPPA is a program that welcomes students from all over the country, and I look forward to meeting new friends that I otherwise wouldn’t have!
I can leverage my main Clifton Strengths (competition, learner, and connectedness) be successful in this program by using these skills to adapt to life in Florence. By being a learner, I always want to learn more. Connecting this to one of my goals, I hope to learn more about Florence’s lively culture. Being connected with people is also something that is very important to me. I hope to build relationships with Florentines as well as new friends from the USA. Finally, I am a competitive person by nature. While I may not use my competitive nature in Florence, I always strive to attain good grades and relationships with my professors.
