I can’t believe that it is already the third week of being in Paris. On Monday it was a pretty normal day. I went to work and got dinner with the other Americans. Tuesday I worked from home and nothing special happened. Wednesday I got my first actual assignment. It is to edit the website and correct any mistakes I see. I was able to find a lot of mistakes over the website but overall it was pretty good. After work I went shopping with Elise. We went to a mall that is near my work. I ended up not buying anything though. There was this really cute waffle place that we ended up going to. It was a place that had a lot of different types and flavors of toppings. I got the strawberry waffle. It was a waffle that had whipped cream, chocolate sauce, and strawberries on it. It was so good. We also got boba. After that most of the Americans got together and we got dinner at a pub so people could also watch the French soccer game. Throughout the day I was also doing a takeover on my sororities instagram to show what I was doing in a day of having an internship in Paris.
Thursday was a warm day so during lunch I went with my coworkers and we had lunch in a park. It was so cute and it was a great experience. I also went to watch the Eiffel Tower sparkle with Elise and Nico. We were there from around 10 to about 12:30.
On Friday I went to Nice with 4 other of the Americans. I had to wake up early to take the train. It was 6 hours but at one of the stops they found an unaccompanied minor on the train and it took around an hour to sort out the situation. We got to Nice around 5:30. We went to the beach and then out to dinner. The beach was so nice, and the water was so clear, it was amazing. We explored the city a bit that night. I met people from France, the US, Austria, Germany, Turkey, Ireland and a couple other places. It was so cool meeting people from so many different places. It was a lot of fun and we got to go to all of these interesting places.
On Saturday Ella and I went shopping in the morning. We got croissants and coffee/ hot chocolate. When everyone woke up we all went out to lunch. I had a croque monsieur and a drink called a swimming pool. It was really good. We then walked around and went to the beach. We spent the day at the beach and it was so nice. The water was amazing again and it was so great to lay on the beach. It was a little weird because the beaches are rock beaches and not sand. It hurt a little bit walking to the water but it was an interesting experience. We explored the town again that night and it was a great experience.
On Sunday, everyone had different times for their trains. Nico and Elise’s was at 10. Mine and Justice’s was at 12 and Ella’s was at 6. In the morning Ella, Justice, and I went souvenir shopping and then we got breakfast. We then had to go to our train. It was another long train and I got back around 6. I picked up food and mainly just chilled around.
Today I had work and it was a pretty normal day. We booked a couple of the trips we wanted to go on for the rest of the time we are here. I’m not going to give any spoilers though. Tonight I’m meeting the rest of the Americans and we are going to plan the big trip that we are doing.
There is some ambiguity in what I am doing for my internship. They kind of just give me an assignment and don’t tell me how long I have to do it or what I should do next. I just do the assignment to the best of my ability and then check what I have done. Sometimes I am kind of just sitting there for a little bit. It is apparently pretty common for my boss to not come in very often. He apparently pops in every once in a while but not very often. Overall though I haven’t had any problems with the internship. It is also very early in the internship so I will probably be getting more assignments as it goes on.
