I cant believe it’s over! Our final week. My study abroad experience in London has been transformative, growing in personal, academic, and professional areas. This opportunity has challenged me in ways I am so grateful for and that have enhanced my adaptability, broadened my perspectives, and strengthened my confidence.

On a personal level, living in a new country has taught me resilience and independence. It was so scary at first coming into this big city, trying to navigate the tube, and knowing I was going to have to eat beans on toast at some point. Over time, I found myself embracing the uncertainty and connecting with anyone I could. I now view myself to be a lot more self-reliant than I used to be, and a lot more adaptable, which are qualities I will carry with me in all areas of my life. I think studying abroad made me a lot more competent in the public transport sector too because with all of my weekend trips, I had to navigate cities in Dutch, Spanish, Danish, and Irish.

Academically, my classes abroad helped me understand business more, but also I gained a new understanding of Human Rights, a class I have no prior knowledge in. I now approach problems with a more comprehensive perspective, which will enhance my contributions to discussions and projects at Pitt Business.

And to wrap up on my internship while in London, it was an experience I am so grateful for and would not have traded for the world. I got to go and do things that I never in a million years thought I’d be doing, like going to shoots, meeting so many stylists, planning events, etc. and I made connections that will be so beneficial for me in the future. Even though I came in as a marketing intern, I gained new skills in almost every field. The hectic and flexible nature of the work taught me the importance of adaptability and efficiency—skills I can apply to any future professional setting.

It is very bittersweet writing this right now; in the beginning of writing these, I never thought I’d see the day when they were over, and now I cannot believe it came this quickly. Studying abroad in London has been the most important and amazing experience of my life, and I recommend anyone who has the chance to do it too.
