My name is Wyatt Cobb, I am currently a junior at the University of Pittsburgh studying for a double major in Finance and Business Analytics and a minor in Economics. I am originally from a small town called Northampton next to a more well-known Allentown, PA. A little bit about me is that I am a very active person and always like to be on the move both mentally and physically. I usually do so by playing and refereeing ice hockey or a quick game of chess with friends.
After my freshman year, I went on an amazing journey to Ecuador with the University of Pittsburgh’s PLUS3 program. After that taste of traveling and living in another culture, I knew that I would want to travel and get another eye-opening experience. During my sophomore year, I spent time talking to previous abroad alumni and reading up on which opportunities I had and which would be best for me. Thats when I found my program, the Pitt Global Business Institute – Sydney. This program takes me to Sydney for thirteen weeks where I continue my studies from a different global perspective. I chose this program because the courses offered fit into my schedule perfectly and I believe there is so much to learn and a perspective to gain from studying abroad. I also chose Sydney because I think it very much fits my lifestyle. Despite not having many ice rinks, I can trade my ice skates for a surfboard! My goals from this program are to simply make the most of it. From fully diving into my studies to trying as many new experiences as possible.
The university I am at is the University of Technology Sydney more commonly known as UTS here. It is important to note that I am not a student of UTS but in a program called CEA CAPA which uses UTS’s facilities and various professors. As of right now, UTS students are on summer break as it is currently summer in Australia. Hence, I have not been able to get the best feel for what the student scene is like and I have only just had my first day of class. From what I can tell, it seems to be very similar to Pitt but a little more informal. One big difference is that all the classes here meet once a week for either two and a half hours or three hours. I am excited for the UTS students to come back and I get to interact with them.

The neighborhood I live in is called Zetland and it is a place with lots of apartments for young adults and accommodating grocery stores and shopping. It is about a 20-minute bus ride to the center city and campus. I am in an apartment with five other people, two of which are from Pitt and the other three from various other American schools. I did not know the other students from Pitt so it was totally new set of people I am living with. So far, we are doing just fine living together. Besides some dirty dishes that magically appear, I knew that was enviable. Overall, they are a great group of guys and I am excited to explore and learn with them in these coming months.
