My name is Cameron Golden, and I am a junior at the University of Pittsburgh, majoring in accounting with a minor in Spanish. I grew up around Philadelphia in a neighborhood called Chestnut Hill, where I went to high school as well. On campus, I am involved in my sorority, Delta Zeta, and the Fashion Business Association. In my free time, I love playing tennis, adventuring with friends, and playing guitar. In addition, I have loved traveling my entire life and have had the opportunity to go to a number of amazing places. Throughout my college experience, I was able to do two short-term study abroads in Ireland and Cyprus, which were some of the most rewarding experiences of my life. As a result, I knew since my first-year at Pitt that I wanted to do a semester abroad during the spring term.
I first learned about the Global Business Institute program during the Haller Global Honor Fellowship program, and I knew it was a great option for a potential study abroad experience. A large factor that made the GBI program appealing to me was the opportunity to gain a certificate in international business with the internship and class courses it offers. I have always been interested in global business and wanted to have it be a component in my final degree. I specifically chose Sydney because of how unique the opportunity was and my long-life goal of traveling to the South Asian Pacific region. While looking into the program, there were so many elements that I wanted to explore, and I very quickly decided that Australia was the right call for me.
Throughout the program I am hoping to immerse myself into the lifestyle and cultures of Sydney and its surrounding areas. I believe that my commitment to working at an internship with VISUO, an AI sales tech firm in the heart of the city, will allow me to do this, unlike any program I have done before. I also am looking forward to exploring all of the different nature sites and land that the area has to offer. My roommates and I have already been able to investigate Coogee Beach and walk along the coast of the area, where we saw natural pools formed from the rocks and amazing sites from the hike to Bronte Beach.

I believe our class experience at CEA CAPA will be very different from learning at the University of Pittsburgh as it is a global institution that will not be working through a local university but instead through their own center downtown. I appreciate the way the academics are set up because it takes a more personalized approach to the study abroad experience.
Our neighborhood in Zetland, a small suburb of Sydney, is very quiet compared to the central business district where we have classes. It’s a very nice area with a compound of stores and markets close by. We live in the Meriton Suites, and I have three roommates, two of which are from different colleges. The area did not take long to become acquainted with, and public transportation makes it relatively easy to commute between work and classes.
I am excited to continue my journey here in Sydney and am looking forward to what the first week of classes holds.
