My study abroad experience has taught me a lot about myself as a person and a professional. I learned a lot about prioritizing my time and making the most of my day. I have developed a lot of beneficial time management skills. The Australian lifestyle aims to make the most out of every day. People here aim to get their work done as efficiently as possible so that they can spend time with their friends and family. My aim when I go back to the United States is to take this lifestyle with me this summer. I will be working in New York City, and I am going to attempt to do something before and after work every day. Before coming to Australia, I found that I procrastinated work a lot, but now I try to get it done as quickly as possible so that I can explore the city and the surrounding areas. I also find that I really like being independent in my free time, especially when discovering new areas. It has told me a lot about being in a new city and has given me hope that when I inevitably have to move away from home, I will be happy to make the most out of my new area.
To my scholarship donor, I would like to say thank you very much for getting an opportunity to study abroad. Not a lot of people get the opportunity to go to Australia for an extended amount of time. I have been very fortunate to experience a new way of life in a region that I’ll probably never get a chance to come back to. I met a lot of great people here, and it has genuinely been an amazing experience as the program comes to an end. I have been influenced by the city. It’s people, and it’s the scenery, and I believe it’s going to impact my decisions about my future in the coming years. I love being near the coast. I think it’s an amazing feature to have in a city, and that’s definitely something that I am going to look into as I search for a location to live in in the future post-college. I think Australia is a very underrated location that does not allow students to be taken into account because of the location, but now, being here for three months, I can say that more people should consider it as an option because it was one of the best experiences of my life.
