Hi!
My name is Morgan Sivak, and I just finished by second year at Pitt. I am pursuing a double degree in the College of Business Administration in Business Analytics and Marketing with a certificate in Sports Management. On campus, I am involved with CHAARG (Changing Health Attitudes and Actions to Recreate Girls), my sorority, Sigma Delta Tau, and the Pitt College Democrats. I am originally from Reston, Virginia, and I transferred to Pitt in the Spring 2024 semester. At the moment, I am hoping to work in some way for a professional sports league/team.

I just started the Global Business Institute in Sydney for the Summer 2025 Program. There are about forty of us total in the program, around fifteen of which are Pitt students and the remainder stemming from other universities, such as the University of Minnesota, Michigan State University, Southern Methodist University, the University of Alabama, and more. I chose this program because Australia is a place I have always wanted to travel to but never really seemed to fit in with my life, so I was very excited about this opportunity. I also chose this program because of the connection with sports it has and how I can do an internship and classes all in one, so this GBI seemed like the perfect opportunity for me. I cannot wait to see the unique urban scapes, the beaches, and the wildlife of the area.
Through this program, I am hoping to become more comfortable in more unknown environments and begin to gain experience in my field of interest. I am also looking forwards to learning and working with all different types of students from other universities and getting to meet new professors to further my education. My goals at the moment are to expand my professional horizons by learning from others here, expand my network with the other students in the program, and be able to explore Sydney and appreciate the culture and way of living here.
While I am here, I am interning with the Sydney Flames, a professional women’s basketball team that is a member of the Women’s National Basketball League, and taking a sports management course. Overall, this class and internship will help me further my progress in my Sports Management Certificate.

After a full 24 hours of flying I arrived in Sydney last Wednesday and our program began on Thursday. So far, everyone is so kind and genuine and I love learning about everyone’s different backgrounds and goals for life. We all spent the first couple of days together exploring the area, going on a Tribal Warrior Cruise, heading up to a couple of beaches, and getting to know the area we were staying in. I cannot wait to learn and experience more as our time here continues!
More to come!
