I’ve been in Prague for 11 days as I write this and have been working for 4 days. This week, I went to the gym a few times with people on my floor. The gym is free for students, which came in clutch for us since the local gyms were very expensive. As I’ve continued to explore Prague, the city has taken the top spot in my list of favorite cities I’ve visited. The architecture, culture, food, and everything else has impressed me so much. I also went to the Charles Bridge in Old Town Prague after work yesterday. It was one of the best views I’ve seen here. I highly recommend it if you visit Prague.

As the title states, I started my internship on Monday. It’s been a great experience so far. I didn’t know what to expect with the work culture here, but all of my coworkers have been very friendly. My coworkers have gone out of their way to introduce themselves, answer my questions, and help me get settled—not just into my role, but into the company culture as well. They were also curious about America and the places that they visited there. One of the best things about this internship is that I work in Downtown Prague next to the astronomical clock tower. I either take the tram or walk about 25 minutes through the heart of the city.
Starting an internship can be stressful, but in my case, it was simple with Nekrachni. As someone who is passionate about technology and social impact, getting the opportunity to work with a company focused on improving financial literacy was a perfect fit. Nekrachni, a Czech-based startup, is working to make financial education more accessible through a mobile app and social media. With the company planning to launch an English version of the app soon, there’s been a lot to do—and managing my time effectively has been key to making the most of this experience. As you might expect with a startup company, there are some layers of unpredictability. However, I’ve started to manage this in a few different ways.
To keep myself organized, I rely heavily on time blocking and daily task lists. Each day, my boss gives tasks for me to complete on a site called Trello, where I can track my progress with them. Every morning, I write down a realistic to-do list based on these tasks to map out my day. The company also uses Google Calendar to map out blocks of focused time where we work on specific tasks. For example, yesterday we analyzed competitor apps. Everything from the app design, to usability and entertainment level.
By assigning time windows to each task, I minimize distractions and ensure that each project gets the attention it needs. I’ve found this especially helpful when juggling multiple responsibilities that require different types of mental focus. In specific, technical work like setting up AI tools demands more deep work, while competitive research is often more exploratory and flexible.
I’ve also been faced with a decent chunk of time where I don’t have a specific task I’m working on. In these situations, it can be difficult to stay focused and get work done. In my case, I’ve been doing a lot of work with AI. During the time where I’m not using it for a task, I am learning more about how to use it for future tasks.
We also get a lunch break which has become an important part of my routine. It gives my mind a break and helps me focus again in the afternoon. Work can be tiring, so the lunch break is something I can look forward to when I’m struggling with a certain task. Then, after taking some time away, I come back recharged and am better equipped to solve the problems.
Working at Nekrachni has taught me that managing your time isn’t just about being busy—it’s about being intentional. Every hour should have a purpose, whether it’s learning something new, contributing to a larger team goal, or testing a new idea. Interning at a startup with a strong mission has made that lesson even clearer. As we prepare to launch the English version of the app, I’m excited to keep building systems that help me prioritize, focus, and grow alongside the company.
Whether you’re interning at a fast-paced tech startup or working on your own personal projects, mastering time management and task prioritization is a game-changer—and something I know I’ll carry with me far beyond this internship.
