Jackson’s Internship in Dublin Week 3

I just wrapped up my third week here in Ireland and my second week at my internship with Casey Kennedy Estate Agents. My workload picked up a lot more this week since the other intern at our company had gone back to Germany. I spent my Monday driving around to several appointments around Dublin. We did an inspection of an older home that needed a full renovation. We had also dealt with some maintenance issues at 2 other tenants properties so must of the day was on the road. I really enjoy that side of real estate getting to be out of the office for a little bit because being stuck behind a desk all day can be really draining and boring for myself.

Tuesday I did a lot of accounting task I haven’t done much accounting in my life so it has been very nice to learn some of the behind the scenes accounting that companies have to do when dealing with their own expenses and clients expenses. On Wednesday I continued my accounting work because it was a large amount of work and pretty brutal not going to lie. I eventually got it done and then got to go home a little early on Wednesday it was nice. On Thursday I got to work on creating invoices for clients and contact the clients about their invoice payments it was a lot more simpler of a day from the previous ones.

Friday was great I got to go into work for only 2 hours and then my supervisor told me to go enjoy my weekend I really thought that was nice of her and that they care about me also enjoying my experience here in Dublin. They always get mad at me when I stay maybe an extra 10-20 minutes finishing a task because they want me to go and enjoy Dublin. I really appreciate this company for wanting me to have a good work life balance its something that I will not forget when I am older.

I do face a little difficulty taking directions for tasks sometimes a supervisor will just ask me to do something without really explaining it to me and it can be very difficult to start the task and approach it. Recently I had an experience when my property management supervisor asked me to complete a task for him and he has such a thick Scottish accent so not even the Irish people can really understand him as well. I usually ask my co-workers that are younger for their guidance because they were doing similar intern tasks like me in previous years and I understand how to work things a lot better than I do just being here for my third week. I am looking forward to learning more on this experience and I am glad the momentum is starting to rise a little more for me.
