This past week in Dublin I had a really relaxed work week. It was very quiet in the office. I spent most of my week on excel. I worked remotely on Monday which was nice for me because I had spent that Sunday in Belfast taking a tour at 5am. I spent my Monday mostly resetting for the week because my mom was coming in town on Thursday.
Tuesday I went to work the whole day I also worked on more spreadsheets I actually enjoy using excel and google sheets because I am advancing my skills in excel and I am starting to get a lot better and am able to work spreadsheets a lot faster than I use to. I have been starting to get along with my co-workers recently as well I am starting to get a little sad that I will be leaving after the next few weeks. You don’t expect to make strong bonds here before you go to Ireland but you really do get close with people that you haven’t met before in such a short amount of time.
Wednesday I developed an excel spreadsheet for my co-worker Aoife organizing the tenants of the property she manages. It took up a lot of time but she was really impressed by work. I do enjoy getting feedback from my co-workers because it helps me understand if I am doing the work the right way. On Thursday I showed up to work and most of the office had been empty a lot of the agents had been at showings and also inspections for properties. My supervisor Janet had also been out. My co-worker Aoife had told me to just go home and enjoy my day. I was really appreciative of this because I was stressed out trying to get situated before my Mom was arriving. Then on Friday I was given the day off by my supervisor because she wanted me to spend time with my mom which is really nice. I got to show my mom around Dublin City Friday and Saturday she really enjoyed the city we also went to the Forty foot which is the in the beach town Dun Laoghaire it was nice to get away from the city environment and enjoy the beach areas. Then we also did The Book of Kells library tour which was amazing one of the oldest libraries in the world at trinity college I was so excited to see it.
On Saturday my mother and I had gone to the Cliffs of Moher and experience I had not done yet it was so nice one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen in my life I really enjoyed it. Our tour had also taken us to the city of Galway where I actually got to visit like a month ago I really like Galway I believe it is like the third biggest city in Ireland it is always so busy with tourist. It was hard to see my mom go and I had a good time with her but I remembered I’ll be home in 2 weeks.
I would say I have always had strong leadership skills I was captain of the basketball team high school I have taken leadership positions at different organizations on campus so I will say I feel like they actually did not grow as much here at this internship because I am mostly doing small things that the leaders of my company do not have as much time to get done because they’re so busy. So from a learning standpoint I have learned to play my part in the team I work hard I get my work done quickly. I will say something that I have learned from a leadership standpoint is how to work with different types of people I am working with Irish people everyday and I am learning how people like to receive different types of feedback so from a leadership/growth standpoint I am learning how to adapt to new roles and understand different types of people which is a great learning lesson for myself.
