Hello. My name is Gavin Donoghue. I am from Long Island, New York. I live with my parents and two brothers. I previously attended South Side High School in my hometown of Rockville Centre. I was involved in various clubs and sports teams during my time in high school. One club that stood out to me was the H.E.L.P. Uganda International Club. I held a leadership position in this club as the treasurer, which involved coming up with ideas for fundraising and organizing funds that were raised to be sent back to the town of Masese, Uganda. I was also a captain of the varsity baseball team, which I was a part of for three years. These leadership roles taught me valuable lessons about hard work and staying focused on my goals. I believe these are important skills that I will carry into my work at the University of Pittsburgh.
I am incredibly excited and honored to have this opportunity through the Haller Global Honors Fellowship. This unique opportunity to study abroad in Ireland will allow me to explore the country’s beautiful landscapes, rich culture, and, most personally, the homeland of my ancestors. I look forward to building connections with my fellow students, esteemed professors, and local business leaders in Northern Ireland. I truly believe that the Haller program will not only deepen my understanding of international business and global perspectives but also make me a more competitive candidate as I pursue internships and future career opportunities. I am sincerely grateful for this chance to grow personally, academically, and professionally.
