I chose to be part of the finance team because I wanted to see if finance was what I wanted to do for my next 4 years of college. I also did not think I fit well with any of the other groups, marketing and AI. I’m interested in being part of the finance team because I want to learn how to apply financial skills and consulting in the real world, which might have a lasting impact on Carrigart. To prepare for our first client meeting with Majella Orr, our group met and did research about what Gteic does and how we could help them with their problem. When we look into it, we realize the problem is that they need more foot traffic to manage seasonal tourism. This causes them to have a lot of people in the summertime but have no one in the winter months. We prepare questions to ask if they have teamed up with a hotel and a golf course. Also, ask if they have any festivals in the off-season, so it can bring people to Carrigart. During the meeting, she told us that there is no off-season demand and no foot traffic, but they have a lot during the golf season. She also told us that golf is still big during the winter months, even when it’s cold. When it was time for questions from us, we suggested that they could partner up with a hotel and a golf course so that when workers come down for vacations, they have some place to work. Also, have a festival in the off-season that makes people have a reason to come down. We hope that all of this will start to bring people down in the off-season and start a rippling effect that will help all of the other businesses around them, too. From this, we want to continue trying to bring festivals to Carrigart and try to get Gteic to collaborate with the hotels, as well as golf courses.
