We started today with taking a StrengthFinders assessment and taking a tour of Sennott Square and the business department. To explain StrengthFinders, it is an assessment that takes your strongest talents and sorts them into themes, which provides great insight into the kind of person you are. My top theme that came out of the assessment was Learner. To me, this means that I find great enjoyment in the process of reaching a final destination or goal. It is not so much just obtaining my goals, but understanding how to get there and really taking a deeper look into the why. Coinciding with this, another one of my top themes is Developer, which takes into account the potential I see in the people and things around me and gives me a deeper drive. On the contrary to this, as much as I love to dive deep into the processes of things, I also value Discipline. I love organization, order, having a plan, and having and reaching deadlines for things. I think these themes put together create a good motivation for myself and keep myself accountable.
In relation to my group, I learned from this exercise that I am a good person to keep the group accountable and on track for creating a plan and being diligent on deadlines. Every person in the group has a different set of top themes, and therefore, offers different assets to the group environment. We can use each of our greatest strengths and work together to create a plan that works best for us to create new ideas and get things done in relation to our client.
These insights can also help me as I begin my academic career because I am able to promote my strengths in situations such as interviews and when networking with professionals. This will help me to stick out against my peers and allow for myself and others recognize my greatest potential.
