The first thing I did over this amazing weekend was participate in the hard GAA annual 5K fun run event. Even though the weather was a bit cold, I was still sweating the whole time. I did not win any award, but I did have a lot of fun and got to meet cool people. After the run, everyone relaxed a bit and played a round at a par-3 golf course. It was peaceful and a little competitive for bragging rights, but the short holes made the game enjoyable for everyone, like me, that aren’t good at golf. The course was surrounded by beautiful rolling hills, and even though the weather was a little chilly, it felt good to be outside. Later, everyone took a trip to the Slieve League Cliffs. The cliffs were high, and the wind was very strong. When I was standing on the cliffs and looking at the blue sea, it made me see how beautiful nature can be even when it is trying to blow you away. After that, I visited Killybegs, a small fishing town in Ireland. I walked along the harbor, saw the boats, but all the stores were mostly closed because we got there so late. The next day, I explored Doe Castle, an old stone castle surrounded by water and hills. Going into the castle, I saw all the history that was in it and learned about everyone who occupied it. Everyone ended the weekend at Glenveagh National Park, where I hiked the trails with all the beautiful nature and saw the amazing Glenveagh Castle. Even though it was really windy and stormy, it was still a cool place to see. After experiencing the storm in Glenveagh National Park, it made me think about how extreme weather affects local businesses around the area, like a gardening center. In the off-season, cold and rainy weather might keep customers away. Outdoor events like selling plants have not attracted people because no one wants to get rain on or be in freezing cold weather. Certain plants might be hard to care for or even die in bad weather, making people not want to buy plants that die so soon. But the gardening center could use the weather to its advantage. For example, they could make the greenhouse a cozy space in winter that could offer gardening classes and nature workshops. Even though the weather brings bad emotions to everyone, the gardening center can use that to its advantage and have people come to the business.
