Ciao Florence!

My experience abroad has been one of the most meaningful and transformative periods of my life. Living in a new country pushed me outside of my comfort zone in ways I could not have anticipated, and through that, I experienced significant personal, academic, and professional growth.

Personally, I developed a much greater sense of patience and adaptability. Navigating language barriers, cultural differences, and unfamiliar systems required me to slow down and embrace uncertainty rather than resist it. Over time, I became more comfortable with challenges that once felt overwhelming. I also gained a deeper appreciation for both art and nature. Being surrounded by historic architecture, world-renowned museums, and beautiful landscapes encouraged me to be more present and observant, allowing me to fully take in my surroundings rather than rush from place to place.

Academically, this experience broadened my perspective beyond the classroom. I was able to connect what I have learned at Pitt Business to real-world, global contexts. Being immersed in a different culture enhanced my understanding of how business, communication, and consumer behavior vary across countries. Professionally, this has inspired me to pursue opportunities that involve international work or allow me to travel. I now see the value in having a global mindset and the impact it can have in fields like consulting and finance.

The most important transferable skills I developed were adaptability, communication, and independence. Whether it was figuring out transportation, navigating conversations in another language, or building relationships with people from different backgrounds, I became more confident in my ability to handle new situations. I also formed long-lasting friendships and meaningful connections with people whom I would not have met if it weren’t for studying abroad, which has been one of the most rewarding aspects of this experience.

I hope to leverage my experience in future internships and ultimately pursue a career that allows me to work internationally or travel. This program has not only shaped my academic and career goals but has also given me memories, friendships, and personal growth that will stay with me for a lifetime.
