I just finished my first week at my internship, and what I learned so far is that every day is different, presenting both challenges and opportunities for helpful growth. While the core everyday tasks may share similarities, each day brings its unique set of tasks and assignments that require my full attention. One of the most fascinating parts of my job is understanding and trying to help answer the diverse needs of those who express interest in our company. Each potential client comes with their own personal preferences and requirements, and our team strives to accommodate everyone as best we can. This dedication to client satisfaction is reflected in the wide array of classes we offer, which are made to purposely advertise to various interests and skill levels. Additionally, we provide multiple time slots to ensure that our classes are accessible to a larger audience. This flexibility not only enhances our appeal but also enriches the overall experience for our clients.

Although these tasks may seem straightforward at first glance, they often involve extensive communication back and forth with our potential clients. This process can be quite complex and time-consuming, especially considering that many of our clients are multilingual, with a significant number speaking German or French. This language barrier adds an extra layer of challenge, requiring me to improve my own skills and strategies for effective communication. We do have and regularly use set templates for communication; however, since many clients ask very specific questions, we are unable to use our templates in those situations, so we must try to answer their inquiries to the best of our abilities.

Given these variables, I have adopted a very proactive approach to my workload. I often try to get the majority of my “easier” tasks done as soon as possible. One of my specific responsibilities is to follow up with those who have not yet responded to our messages. By tackling this task early on, I can free up the rest of my day for ongoing conversations and any new inquiries that may arise. This organizational strategy helps me manage my time efficiently, ensuring that I’m responsive to our clients while also staying on top of my responsibilities. My work schedule runs from 9:30 AM to 5:30 PM every day, and I would say I am fairly busy throughout the entire day. There are definitely moments where I find myself without follow-up emails to send or ongoing conversations to continue, but these instances are relatively rare. The majority of the time, I am actively engaged in my work, continually checking my email for updates and managing multiple conversations on WhatsApp. Each interaction not only helps me build relationships with clients but also allows me to hone my skills in customer service and effective communication.

Overall, this internship is proving to be an amazing learning experience. I’m not just learning and gaining practical skills and knowledge; I’m also being exposed to the dynamics of client relations and the importance of adaptability in a fast-paced environment. I’m excited to see how my understanding of these processes will develop as I continue to immerse myself in my role in the coming weeks. Some clients request very specific things, such as wanting to have group classes as well as 1-on-1 classes. We try our very hardest to invite all of our students to do things such as that; however, that takes time and patience to organize. Additionally, a majority of our current students, as well as potential clients, are often reaching out regarding a student visa. Those specific inquiries regarding student visas often take more time and are very important to make sure that they are completed fully and completely. We have to be aware of every student’s arrival and end date, as our classes only permit 8 students at a time. This limitation is in place to create a better and more personable environment for our students. However, it does make our jobs harder, as we have to constantly monitor and adjust based on each student’s schedule to maximize our capacity every week; this often requires a constant flow of open communication with our students. With every organized class and successful visa inquiry, we take a step closer to our mission of helping every student achieve their own specific goals.
