Finding Direction Without a GPS

One area where I experience uncertainty during my internship is when assignments are not clearly defined or when I am given limited information about what is expected. Since I am still learning about the organization and my role, there are times when I am unsure about priorities, deadlines, or how detailed a task should be. This can be challenging because I want to complete my work accurately and efficiently, but I do not always have all the information I need at the start.

To navigate this ambiguity, I try to take initiative and gather information from multiple sources. When directions are unclear, I ask questions to clarify expectations and confirm that I am on the right track. If my supervisor is unavailable, I review previous examples, speak with coworkers, or use available documentation to better understand the task. I have also learned the importance of breaking larger assignments into smaller steps so I can make progress even when every detail is not immediately clear.

This experience has helped me develop stronger problem-solving skills and become more comfortable working independently. Rather than waiting for complete instructions, I have learned to make informed decisions based on the information available and adjust my approach as I receive feedback. While uncertainty can be frustrating at times, it has taught me to adapt, be resourceful, and work more effectively in a professional environment.
