Time and maypole dances

on

Swedish Midsummer has come and gone! I got to spend time hanging out with friends, eating good food, and dancing around the maypole in a flower crown! With all the extra time to relax, I’ve been able to think about my time management in the past couple weeks.

Time management so far hasn’t been too much of an issue. Since I work hybrid, I have a lot of control over my scheduled, which I have loved coming from my college schedule honestly. It also lets me work generally wherever I want to, so I get to explore the city and hunt for places with wifi to settle down in! So far my top spots have been the fast food chain MAX (which everyone in our group has fallen in love with), the Stockholm Culture House with tables that overlook the central square (in fact, that’s where I’m writing this post from!) and a bookstore with a cafe.

Despite my freedom in my schedule, I tend to keep to a specific routine. I make it a point to get to my co-working space at 9; it works out because my roommate gets up around 7:30, giving me plenty of time. I usually do most of my work from 9 to 11 or 12, depending on how much I have to do on that day. After that, I head out to get lunch from a local cafe or the 7/11, which are INCREDIBLY nice in Sweden.

After lunch I often head somewhere else to do my work. I’ve found that the change in scenery makes it easier for me to focus on my work. I usually go to one of the places I listed before, or just back to my apartment. The flexibility has given me the freedom to really experience Stockholm while also getting my work done.

As my internship goes on, I imagine I’ll have more to do in general, leading to a greater need to manage my time. However, as of now, my time management has been relatively lax.
