Today we got to drive over an hour to go visit Connellsvile, Pennsylvania! I slept on the way there and the way back and wow it felt amazing to sleep some more. But with the days passing by, and the presentation in Ireland coming closer as time passes, I’m getting a bit anxious for the big task we are asked for. That’s why today’s visit got me thinking great ideas of what I could do similar in Carrigart. First, we went stopped to see the town of Connellsvile, the town in particular is known for its amazing bike trails, a world heritage site; an architectural building and right below it is a 30 ft waterfall, great food stops, while all of these stores/trails are great, not a lot of people stop by for long and just go about their ways after a day or two. So that’s when the Comfort Inn Hotel, located in 325 North First Street was built. This hotel has brought many people in this town, at first I didn’t understand, but we met with the owner of the hotel alongside his partner, she joined this hotel establishment and she has brought it’s way to the top, winning many awards and even winning for best in the country. While she was giving us the tour, I noticed how they provided lots of additional equipment that traditional hotels didn’t have. They have a bike room (a room where you can rent a bike, or store your bike) which I think is very neat since Connellsvile has very nice trails you can ride your bike on, and the hotel has a beautiful scenery of a river behind it. One thing that really got me thinking when taking the hotel tour was that beside the hotel was a restaurant, and an event center (for a party/reunion/get together/networking event/etc.), and the owner of the hotel has partnered with these two buildings, and they offer a discount if you go or book any of those places which I think is super neat! Overall today, I got a very good lesson on how the hotel management world works, and some additional ideas how I can implement these ways to Carrigart.
