Hi everyone! My name is Ruby Beckwith! I’m a senior at the University of Pittsburgh studying Finance and Business Information Systems with a minor in Economics. Outside of University, I love to hike, read, and travel. A few recent travels have been Alaska and Canada. After I graduate, I hope to have a job working in banking or finance. I am participating in the Global Business Institute in London, UK during the Fall 2026 semester. I chose London because it is quite a large city and it is quite easy to travel around and to other European countries. It is also a great taste into what Europe has to offer. I believe it is one of the most modern cities in Europe, so I am super excited to explore more of London and the rest of Europe! Something else that drew me to London was all of the different cultures that are here, there is always so many different restaurants for each cuisine. It’s so easy that I already have three trips planned! During study abroad, I hope to learn more about the financial system in London, try new foods, and travel to at least 3 new countries!
In London, I am living in The Stay Club in North Action which is just West of Central London (just a 30-minute tube ride!) At the Stay Club, I have my own dorm with a kitchen, bathroom, and tons ofstorage. The Stay Club also has amazing amenities such as a cinema room that you can book, a gym, and a large library which happens to be on my floor! I am taking my classes at Richmond American University, and they offer a bunch of amazing courses! London is absolutely amazing! Coming to London, I was expecting it to be similar to New York but there is so much green space here and you can walk down literally any street and find a great place to eat or get a coffee. Something that surprised me when I first got here is how easy the public transportation is to navigate and it can get you almost anywhere for only a few Pounds. Being a pescatarian, sometimes in the US it is hard to get vegetarian/pescatarian food, but in the UK at every restaurant I have been to so far has had plenty of options for me, and most of them are quite tasty!
Thank you for reading, and I’m super excited to share more about my time here!
