I’ve dabbled in this topic a few times throughout my blogs, but I think it’s time to officially analyze my company’s industry. However, this is not as straightforward as it may seem – Opinno is a bit complicated when answering the question “So what exactly do you guys do?”
They define themselves as “a global innovation consultancy firm” which categorizes them as a consultancy. More specifically, a consultancy that helps other companies to keep up with the constant technological changes through various projects.
Already, this places them in two different industries: consultancy and technology. You might remember that Opinno defines itself by three sections: People, Ideas, and Solutions. “Ideas” is the consultancy department and “Solutions” handles the technology (this includes the projects that the other companies need and projects of their own). “People” plans events and partakes in the marketing aspect of the company. This event planning puts them into a third separate industry. Do you see how this can get complicated?
However, let’s go back to the title “Global innovation consultancy firm”. At the end of the day, it all ties back to that. If you put aside separate endeavors, “People” markets the company to find clients, “Ideas” does the actual act of consulting, and “Solutions” creates the product needed.
This image is of a wall at my company. “When it comes to innovation, every business is a startup” really captures what Opinno is all about. In this modern day and age, innovation is constant. No company can consider themselves finished with innovating. This is why companies like Opinno exist – to assist with keeping up with the current times.
However, there are many challenges that come along with such a task. Opinno must always be one step ahead of the latest technology trends. Not only that, but they must also be experts on how to utilize them for the greatest success. From a Human Resources perspective, I’ve noticed a lot of struggles when it comes to hiring new employees. Many candidates will have all of the credentials we are looking for, but are missing an important expertise in a certain code, or other technological necessity. This can be a very frustrating part of the hiring process – especially because time is always of the essence.
One way Opinno is combatting this is with the creation of their “Academy” department. It’s relatively new and still up and coming. However, the general idea is to teach other companies’ employees the newest technology to prevent their skills from becoming outdated. This was created to help clients, but it certainly helps internally as well. These experts are able to keep our talent as up to date as possible, which is more important now than ever.
We are currently living in such a distinct era regarding technology. It is so interesting to see first-hand how a company is taking advantage of the time and growing along with it. The innovative spirit at Opinno keeps everyone learning everyday, and I’m very grateful to be able to experience it.
Ciao!
