One of the best parts about studying abroad in Sydney was that I basically skipped winter. Summer was in full swing when I arrived in Australia, so I was able to explore some of the world famous beaches during my time here. While you can’t go wrong with any of the Sydney beaches, here are a few of my favorites:
The most iconic Sydney beaches have to be Bondi, Coogee, and Manly. They each have amazing towns right off the beach, so you can really spend a full day at these locations. There will definitely be a lot of tourists at these places, but it’s the perfect way to spend a sunny day.
Big, but not as crowded:
If you want to experience a beach day like a Sydney local, Maroubra and Bronte are perfect. The beaches are exactly like Bondi and Coogee, minus the tourists and big towns. Like Bondi, Coogee, and Manly, the waves get pretty big at these beaches so it’s the best place to watch the surfers and read a book.
Some days, I preferred to go to a smaller beach without waves. The harbor beaches are great for this. Camp Cove and Milk Beach provided the perfect landscapes for when I wanted to swim and lay out in the sun. An added bonus to these was that they had an amazing view of the beautiful Sydney skyline.
